Overview

Expense Snap (“the App”) is an expense tracking application designed for employees to record business expenses. This privacy policy explains how we handle your information.

Information Collection and Use

Data Stored Locally

The App stores the following data locally on your device only:

Expense records: Description, amount, date, currency, and category
Receipt images: Photos you take of receipts
User preferences: Your name, preferred currency, and app settings

This data is stored in your device’s private storage and is not transmitted to our servers.

Camera Permission

The App requests camera access to:

Take photos of receipts for expense documentation
Scan receipts using OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to auto-fill expense details

Photos are stored locally on your device and are never uploaded to external servers unless you explicitly choose to back up to Google Drive.

Internet Access

The App uses internet access for:

Exchange rate updates: Fetching current currency exchange rates from public APIs
Google Drive backup (optional): If you choose to enable cloud backup, your expense data and receipt images are uploaded to your personal Google Drive account

If you choose to use the Google Drive backup feature:

We use Google Sign-In to authenticate your Google account
We only request access to app-specific storage in your Google Drive
We do not access any other data in your Google account

Data Storage

All expense data and receipt images are stored locally on your device
Cloud backup to Google Drive is optional and requires your explicit consent
Data backed up to Google Drive is stored in your personal account and governed by Google’s privacy policy

We do not:

Sell your personal information
Share your data with third parties
Collect analytics or tracking data
Store your data on our servers

Data Security

Local data is stored in the app’s private directory, inaccessible to other apps
OAuth tokens for Google Drive are stored using secure encrypted storage
Receipt images are compressed and stored privately

Data Deletion

You can delete your data at any time:

Delete individual expenses and receipts within the app
Clear all data from the app settings
Uninstall the app to remove all local data
Delete backup data from your Google Drive manually

Children’s Privacy

This App is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy in the app and updating the “Last Updated” date.
